Advanced Handgun

APS's Advanced Handgun Training Class is designed for individuals who have completed a basic handgun skills course and wish to improve their shooting proficiency and education. This course allows students to fine tune their firearms skills and enhance their marksmanship.

Improved tactical shooting skills are emphasized through concentrated range-time training in:
  • Pistol presentations and shooting positions
  • Tactical reloading procedures
  • Multiple target engagement
  • Weapon malfunctions and related remedies

The Advanced Handgun Training Class off-range instruction highlights safety issues related to the use of firearms in personal combat situations. Additional topics include residential defense tactics, legal options for carrying concealed weapons, clothing considerations, equipment selection and holster types.

Prerequisite: Associated Protective Services Basic Handgun Training Course or equivalent training (subject to instructor approval).

Course Requirements: All students must supply their own handgun, holster ("Strong-side" draw ONLY, no shoulder or "cross draw" rigs), hearing & eye protection, 500 rounds of ammunition and at least two (2) magazines or speed loaders and holder.
NOTE: Holsters must be of tactical nature to allow the student to draw and re-holster with one hand.
